Anolyte solutions are unmatched in numerous industries as a disinfectant solution. Only a very small sampling of the possibilities available with EcaFlo™ Anolyte could be listed here. Bacteria in water can be treated and managed with Anolyte solutions. Waste water from food processing operations can be treated to help reduce the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) levels in discharge waters and, unlike water treated with hazardous chemicals, can be discharged into public sewer systems.
Cooling tower water can be treated with low concentrations of anolyte so that bacteria in the tower are controlled. In addition, anolyte removes the scale build-up on fill, pans and in pipes so that a better heat exchange value is maintained throughout the system. Costs for handling, storing and disposing of hazardous chemicals used to treat for bacteria and inhibit scale are dramatically reduced. Furthermore, downtime and maintenance costs for periodic cleaning are eliminated.
Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina collected samples of water from Withers Swash by Dr. Joseph Bennett, Director of the Environmental Quality Lab at Coastal Carolina University. Aliquots of the samples were tested by Dr. Bennett using EcaFlo™ solutions, generated by equipment manufactured by IET, Inc., to determine the efficacy of the solutions to kill bacteria. The solutions were applied to the aliquots and the CFU/100 ml dropped from 2400 to 2. Dr. Bennett stated, "Essentially all of the fecal coliform bacteria were killed in a short reaction time." EcaFlo™ Anolyte solutions may be dosed into bacteria-containing water at very low concentrations and, due to the nascent oxidant enriched nature of the solutions, bacteria are quickly destroyed. The solutions then relax to their original state: a weak salt-water brine.
The application of ECA solutions on working surfaces, processing equipment, walls, floors, etc., assures that bacteria and other microorganisms are mitigated on those surfaces. This is also true of boots, aprons, gloves and other apparel typically worn in food processing or preparation areas. Catholyte solutions, when applied to hard surfaces, remove the organic load which is the protecting barrier and food source for growth of micro-organisms, and when followed by a surface treatment with anolyte, bacteria are killed in shorter contact times and in lower concentrations of FAC than is possible with hypochlorite (bleach) solutions.
Anolyte solutions are also excellent sanitizing agents for cleaning utensils and more. The ability to control pH of the EcaFlo™ Anolyte solutions allows for selecting and producing the type of solution needed, making the EcaFlo™ process even more unique.
